Therapy to Help You Understand Yourself and Create Meaningful Change

Warm, down-to-earth counselling in Edinburgh and online, combining authentic connection with practical support.

How Can I Help?

I am passionate about providing support for low self-esteem, low mood and anxiety. This might show up at work, in relationships, hormonal shifts (such as PMDD or perimenopause), experiences of grief or other life transitions

I can help you become more aware of thinking patterns, emotions and behaviours that might be holding you back, within a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment.

My aim is to demystify therapy and provide practical tools you can continue to use long after therapy ends.

Some of the things I can support you with include:

  • Anxiety & overthinking

  • Depression

  • Low self-esteem & self-criticism

  • Perfectionism

  • Grief & loss

  • Hormonal mental health (PMDD, perimenopause & menopause)

  • Relationships

  • Life changes & transitions

  • Neurodivergence

Meet Jo Ellis

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with lived experience of anxiety, neurodivergence and low self-esteem, so I know how difficult and overwhelming it can be to find the right support.

Through my own experiences and professional training, I have learnt so much and feel passionate about using this knowledge to support others.

My approach is person-centred at its foundation and I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I combine practical, evidence-based tools with warmth, compassion, curiosity and humour, adapting the way I work to you and what you need.

I am also a practising Buddhist and a member of SGI UK, which means I strongly believe in the innate potential of each person.

Being neurodivergent myself, I understand some of the unique challenges neurodivergent people can face and this also informs my approach.
